A normal yard with a consistent naming scheme typically requires seven or eight bin name tables. The number of tables you require (up to 15) depends on the complexity of your naming and numbering scheme.
If you use TEAMS ECI, your bin names for columns must consist of a single character per name. For example, you can use a Column 1, but not a Column 01.
The following table describes the standard bin name tables that most yards use.
Naming Schemes |
Description |
---|---|
Standard systems |
The standard numbering schemes typically can be generated from these standard numbering tables, which included number sequences, ISO-type naming, or alphabetical schemes, as in these examples:
|
Even or odd numbering |
If you want a block with row numbers that are all even, you would need a table with only even user names. If you want a block with row numbers that are all odd, you would need a table with only odd user names. |
Inverted numbering |
To specify a row with inverted columns, for example, descending from 9 to 1, you would use a bin name table that is numbered in descending order. For example, you would assign logical number 1 to user name 9, logical number 2 to user name 8, and so on. |
Offset numbering |
You may also need tables to accommodate logical row numbers that do not start at 1. For example, if you specify a block with rows to be labeled 300 to 440, you would need a table that starts at 300. |
